NEW DELHI, MARCH 23— Around 65% of India’s population will wake up Monday morning in complete lockdown and will remain so till March 31. As the number of Coronavirus patients surged in the country on Sunday, 14 states announced to impose lockdown from 6AM March 23 till 12 PM March 31.

At the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sunday witnessed unprecedented ‘Janata Curfew’ across the country, with shops and markets closed and roads wearing deserted look.

The 14 states, which will enforce lockdown, have 87.59 crore population together, that is 65% of country’s 135 crore population.

Nagaland – 22 Lakh

Rajasthan – 7.95 Cr

Bihar – 12.22 Cr

Jharkhand – 3.79 Cr

During the lockdown, all public transports will be suspended, all shops, markets and offices will remained shut down. Gathering of people will be banned.

According to the Union Ministry of Health, the number of active Coronavirus patients went up to 329. The day saw three deaths, taking the total toll to 7. Worldwide, over 13,000 people have died to this disease while over 3 lakh others are under treatment.
