Talking to Inclusive India over phone from Assam, Dr Khasrul Islam, Director, Ajmal Foundation said: “If students with family annual income below Rs 1.5 lakh have got above 85% marks in Class X exam and they clear our entrance test, we provide 100% scholarship to such 40 boys and 40 girls. They are coached for two years without any charge.”

At one time, there are 160 students – 80 in class XI and 80 in class XII – who avail 100% scholarship from Ajmal Foundation.

“We coach 160 students entirely freely for two years. We bear all their expenses including lodging and food,” Islam said.

Some students who miss the cut-off mark by one or two percent are also given scholarship but they are partially charged, he informed adding that even students from rich families are also not charged high unlike other commercial coaching institutes.

“Financially sound students also come to us and get coaching here because ours has talented faculty from different parts of the country like Kanpur, Delhi, Rajasthan and Patna. We charge reasonable fee from such students. We don’t charge high fee like other commercial coaching institutes,” said Islam.

The Ajmal Super 40 in Hojai has students from all communities but the upcoming two centres will take students from tea tribes, ST, SC and OBC in order to empower these communities.

In the NEET-2020, whose results were announced earlier this month, more than 100 students from Ajmal Super 40 were declared successful.

“More than 100 students from our 2-years Integrated Coaching Programme have cleared NEET this year, of which 80+ students likely to get admission in MBBS. My heartfelt thanks to the faculty and other staff members associated with Ajmal Super 40 programme & Ajmal Group of Colleges,” said Badruddin Ajmal on Twitter on October 17 when NEET-2020 results were announced.

Giving details about the success in NEET-2020, Dr Khasrul Islam, Director, Ajmal Foundation said: “Out of 100 students, at least 80 will get admission in MBBS and rest in BDS and other medical courses. In all, 160 students had appeared in NEET-2020. Some students have got 600+ marks and they will get admission in national-level medical colleges while rest will get admission in state-level colleges.”

Among the successful 100, there are 22 girls.

On the website of Ajmal Foundation, Badruddin Ajmal, three-time Lok Sabha MP from Dhubri and also CEO of Ajmal CSR, talks about the vision of Ajmal Foundation.

“The will to happiness is universal but in most cases it remains a far cry because of the domination of the class with vested interests who reap undue and unearned benefits and largesse at the cost of the deprived, the marginalized, the destitute and the poor. Real social progress will remain a mirage if a large segment of our population remains uneducated, poor and sick. It is here that people and organizations with a zeal for public welfare play the most pivotal role at social transformation. AJMAL FOUNDATION is one such Trust which is guided by the spirit of social welfare and passion for removing social disparity by undertaking activities in areas like education, healthcare, poverty alleviation and self-employment. I humbly appeal to all my fellow citizens to stand by us in our mission that envisages a happy and prosperous humanity,” says Ajmal.

Ajmal Foundation has established 24 educational institutions, including B. Ed. College, Degree Colleges and Junior Colleges in different rural and underprivileged areas of Assam. They come under Ajmal Group of Institutions.
