New Delhi, October 2— Renowned peace activist and social worker Faisal Khan of Khudai Khidmatgar was on Friday conferred the 4th Badshah Khan Memorial Award by the ITM University of Gwalior.
ITM University’s Registrar Dr Omveer Singh presented the award to Khan on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti here in New Delhi. The award carries citation and Rs one lakh as a cash prize.
“I received ITM University’s 4th Badshah Khan Memorial Award on behalf of all members of Khudai Khidmatgar…I am fortunate that this award was earlier given to N Subbaro and Rajgopal PVG. To reject an award shows ego and accepting it increases one’s responsibility. I have immediately handed over the award money to the Khudai Khidmatgar. I thank ITM University for the affection and honour,” said Faisal Khan.
The university had last week announced the award on its verified Facebook page.
“On the pious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the 2nd of October will be a memorial day where the memories of revolutionary Khan Abdul Ghafar Khan and the father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi will be honoured. The 4th edition of Badshah Khan Memorial Award will feature the person who revoked the Khudai Khidmatgar movement, Sh Faisal Khan. Founded by Khan Abdul Ghafar Khan in 1929, Sh Faisal is responsible for revoking the movement and giving it a new agenda and a noble cause. He is a Gandhian…will be conferred upon the 4th Badshah Khan Memorial award by ITM,” said the university.
